NATIONAL PARK SERVICE PROPOSED CATASTROPHIC
CHANGES FOR NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

COMMENT BY OCTOBER 1

As widely reported in the news media, as well as last month’s issue of the TCWP newsletter, political appointee Paul Hoffman, deputy assistant secretary of the Department of Interior for fish and wildlife and parks, has personally undertaken the task of rewriting the basic meaning, purpose, and mission of the National Park Service. Should this proposed rewrite be implemented, national parks and historic places from Gettysburg to Yellowstone to the Smokies could suffer irreversible damage and visitor experience will be forever compromised for present and future generations.
The National Parks Conservation Association is actively involved in efforts to prevent the rewrite from going forward. Go to www.npca.org/recklessrewrite for more information and to take action on the issue.
